PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cost-effectively provide a thrust bearing having a long service life by simplifying its production process and further improving its mechanical properties. SOLUTION: The thrust bearing is provided with orbital tables 12, 13 obtained by heat-treating a polished steel strip obtained by cold-rolling a high carbon steel comprising, by weight, 0.9 to 1.2% carbon, 1.2 to 1.7% chromium, 0.1 to 0.5% manganese and 0.15 to 0.35% silicon, and having a surface roughness Rmax≤2μm, so as to control a nitrogen concentration in a nitrogen-enriched layer in the surface to 0.1 to 0.9 wt.%.
