PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the inclination of a combustion zone to horizontal direction. SOLUTION: A gasification method for a waste comprises forming a packed layer by charging waste and incombustible pellets into a vertical gasification furnace 1, successively forming a combustion zone by partial combustion, a heat decomposition zone and a dried zone in the furnace height direction by feeding an oxidizing agent and steam from the lower direction of the packed layer and pulling out a combustion residue and incombustible pellets from the furnace bottom part. In the gasification method of waste, the temperature at the same height position above height of the combustion zone is detected in the circumferential direction and pulling-out speed of the combustion residue and the incombustible pellets are controlled in the circumferential direction of the furnace so that the detection temperature becomes a set temperature range.
