An image picking-up system is provided with a difference calculation unit that calculates the degree of a pixel value estrangement between a noteworthy pixel in a region of interest and a circumferential pixel, a distance calculating unit that calculates the degree of a position estrangement between the noteworthy pixel and the circumferential pixel; a circumferential pixel coefficient calculating unit that multiplies the degree of the pixel value estrangement and the degree of the position estrangement together to seek a correlation value, adds the correlation value to a tuning value, calculates the reciprocal of the added result to seek a correlation index value, and seeks a filter coefficient of the circumferential pixel from the correlation index; a noteworthy pixel coefficient calculating unit that seeks a filter coefficient of the noteworthy pixel from the degree of the pixel value estrangement; and a convolution operating unit that carries out a filter operation by using the filter coefficient to calculate a smoothing model pixel value of the noteworthy pixel.
