The invention relates to a method for operating a piezoelectric transducer and transducer device for air mass measurement on an internal combustion engine. According to the invention, a method and corresponding sensor arrangement with an improved mass accuracy can be achieved by improving a decay of the piezoelectric transducer used, by applying a voltage signal to the piezoelectric transducer such as to actively influence the decay or reverberation of the piezoelectric transducer with the purpose of achieving a shorter decay or reverberation.
