<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for oral intake useful for preventing and/or treating non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The composition for oral intake contains as active ingredient(s) a processed product and/or extracted product of the leaves of a vitaceous plant belonging to Vitaceae, especially wild grapes (scientific name: Vitis coingnetiae Pulliat). This composition is characterized by containing an oligomeric proanthocyanidin as the main active ingredient. This composition effectively takes effect further when its superoxide anion-scavenging capacity is 20 μg/mL or less in terms of IC 50 value and/or its hydroxy radical-scavenging capacity is 1,000 μg/mL or less in terms of IC 50 value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
