<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve imaging quality for the boundary portion between an object with much movement and other objects, when the object is contained in a photographed range. <P>SOLUTION: Just before starting photographing of an image to be recorded on a recording device, an optical axis is fixed substantially and a plurality of images are photographed by changing the focused distance with a predetermined interval, and then, a focused region (in-focus region) within each photographed image is detected. Based on difference in focused regions detected from each image photographed using the same distance as a focused distance, the amount of movement for each object is detected. In addition, a distance to each object is determined based on the focused distance during photographing the image. When there is an object with much movement as a background of an object with less movement, data with the amount more than the standard amount are assigned to a region of the image to be compressed including the boundary of those objects, and compression is performed.
