MANUFACTURING METHOD OF OPTICAL FILM, OPTICAL FILM, OPTICAL COMPENSATION SHEET, POLARIZING PLATE AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY APPARATUS USING THE OPTICAL FILM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical film which can display an image of high display quality without producing unevenness even when applied to a large-sized liquid crystal display apparatus by suppressing production of drying unevenness even when high-speed application and high-speed drying of coating liquid is performed.

SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the optical film, the coating liquid containing a liquid crystal compound is applied onto a running web 12 at 5.1 to 12 mL/m2and then the coating liquid is dried to form an optical anisotropic layer. The coating liquid contains a fluoropolymer having a repetition unit introduced by a following monomer (i) and further the fluoropolymer satisfies a following condition (ii). (i) a fluoroaliphatic group-containing monomer having a terminal structure expressed by -(CF2CF2)nF, wherein (n) is an integer. (ii) surface tension of a methyl ethyl ketone solution containing 0.5 mass% of the fluoropolymer is within a range between 19.5 mN/m2and 24.5 mN/m2.
