PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knocking detection device for an internal combustion engine capable of detecting knocking with sufficient detection accuracy. SOLUTION: The knocking detection device for the internal combustion engine is suitably used for detecting generation of knocking. Specifically, the knocking detection device is provided with a cylinder provided inside a cylinder block, a knocking sensor and a waveguide passage. The knocking sensor is used to detect vibration generated inside the cylinder. The waveguide passage is used to transmit vibration and is provided so as to connect the outer wall face of the cylinder with the knocking sensor. Thus, vibration caused by knocking generated inside the cylinder can be efficiently detected, and waste timing delay such as end cylinder uniform timing delay can be eliminated.
