PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart two or more of functions to a frictional rotary body, without requiring fixing of receiving member to a side part of a window frame. SOLUTION: This brake device in a double-hung window is composed of an installation base body fixed to a movable sash window, a stopper member vertically movably arranged in the installation base body and having a downward projecting engaging part, and the frictional rotary body journaled to the installation base body so as to be positioned lower than the stopper member and having an engaging object part engageable with the engaging part, and is constituted so that the stopper member checks rotation of the frictional rotary body by engaging the engaging part with the engaging object part by being movably displaced in the downward direction in the case of an emergency when a suspension material is cut.
