The device has a cover plate (3) attached in a compressed air head for selectively covering and/or uncovering of different quantities of box-shape air passage openings, where the compressed air head is formed with a cover (1). A storage receptacle for covering and/or non-covering the air passage openings is provided in the compressed air head. The cover plate is implemented as a template-like cover plate. The air passage openings are arranged in pattern-like. An independent claim is also included for a method for adapting an active surface of a compressed air head for applying labels.
