PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily perform background color elimination processings, without having to eliminate dots, as well as, even for a background color that can be surely eliminated in a normal part other than the dots, especially regardless of even in a part having show-through effects. SOLUTION: This original read image processor (copying machine 1) is provided with an image-restoring means (MTF characteristics correction processing part 120) for performing compensation processings for compensating the MTF characteristics of an original read image read from an original, when the original read image is read from the original; and a background color elimination processing means (background color elimination processing part 130) for performing background color processing for eliminating a background color of the original included in the original read image of the original read image subjected to the compensation processing for the MTF characteristics by the image-restoring means.
