PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of miniaturizing a chip size of a driver IC which controls the potential of a common electrode and the whole display device when switching, between binary potentials for every one frame, the potential of the common electrode arranged along a scanning line for every scanning line and performing an image display such that odd rows and even rows have reversed polarity to each other. SOLUTION: With respect to the common electrodes 19S arranged along the scanning line 3a for every scanning line 3a, a plurality of common electrodes which adjoin each other among the common electrodes 19S having the same polarity are connected to the same common electrode main line 19M and control signals to the plurality of common electrodes 19S are supplied through one common electrode main line 19M. A number equivalent to the number of the common electrode main line 19M which is less than the number of the common electrodes 19S suffices for the number of output terminals of the driver IC required for controlling the common electrodes 19S, therefore, the chip size can be reduced as much as the reduced number and, as the result, the whole display device can be miniaturized.
