PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of effectively removing scintillation and excellent in practicality in terms of vibration, noise, power consumption, and so on. SOLUTION: The projector includes: a light source device 11 for emitting light; a spatial optical modulation element 30 used for modulating light, emitted from the light source device 11, according to image information and having a plurality of pixels; a first imaging optical system used for imaging the light, modulated by the spatial optical modulation element 30, into a predetermined place; a reflection type phase modulation element 42 disposed in a predetermined place, used for reflecting such that the phase of light imaged by the first imaging optical system 41 is changed with time for each area, and having a plurality of pixels; and a second imaging optical system 43 used for imaging light, reflected by the reflection type phase modulation element 42, onto a projection face 50.
