PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hairdye composition not only exhibiting hair-dyeing power but also easily providing heightened uniformity of color in dyed hair. SOLUTION: The hairdye composition contains (A) a direct dye, (B) an organic solvent and (C) a glycol ether. The distribution coefficient of the organic solvent (B) in water/octanol is within the range of 0.3-3.0. The glycol ether (C) is represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>is a 10-22C hydrocarbon group which may have an unsaturated bond; R<SP>2</SP>to R<SP>5</SP>are each a hydrogen atom or a 1-3C hydrocarbon group; and n is an integer of 0-3).
