PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of coating a component. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method of coating a component on a surface thereof. The present invention also relates to a coating that can be applied to a component and, more particularly, to a corrosion-resistant coating where a solution is applied to a preferably metallic surface of the component in order to coat the surface. The invention further relates to a use with a coating solution. A method of coating a component on a surface thereof includes applying an organic polyoxazole-containing polymer solution to the surface and, in a further step, drying the applied polymer solution to form a coating on the surface.
