<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a shock that can occur when demanded drive force required for a drive shaft in an accelerator-off state varies from a positive value to a negative value. <P>SOLUTION: When an output limit Wout of a battery is smaller than a threshold Wref while an accelerator is off in a state in which an engine is operated, torque T* for working that is actual torque to be output to a drive shaft is gradually reduced (S200), while the engine is operated self-sustaindedly until a prescribed time elapses after the torque T* becomes lower than a value zero (S180), and the engine is brought into fuel cut when the prescribed time has elapsed (S130).
