PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve train for an internal combustion engine, using one drive device (an actuator) for controlling a valve lift amount and a valve timing phase. SOLUTION: The variable valve train for the internal combustion engine uses a variable valve transmission mechanism for varying the opening/closing property an intake/exhaust valve 201a or 203a of the internal combustion engine with a rotary cam 305 to be rotationally driven. The variable valve transmission mechanism consists of four-node link mechanisms 401, 402, 403, 404 having an input arm 404 with an input part 405 abutting on the rotary cam 305. The attitudes of the four-node link mechanisms 401, 402, 403, 404 are controlled by one actuator to change the position of the rotary cam 305 relative to the input part 405.
