PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a composite coating film, which can form a multilayer coating film comprising two or more particulate materials, a coating film having gradient function, and a coating film of which the coloration is changed continually, in an AD method using a simple apparatus and technique. SOLUTION: The method for forming a composite coating film comprises the aerosol forming step forming an aerosol by scattering two or more types of fine particles 8 into a gas, by using an aerosol-producing device 1 including a circulation type transportation means 6 having a gash 6a formed therein, and the film forming step forming a film by jetting the aerosol onto a substrate surface from an aerosol-jetting nozzle in a vacuum chamber. The step of forming the aerosol is a step of scattering the aerosol having two or more types of the fine particles 8 filled in the gash 6a with a predetermined distribution into the gas, sequentially from one side of the gash.
