PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nucleic acid complex with gene transfer activity having a temperature-responding polymer block which is hydrophilic at temperatures lower than a prescribed temperature (T) lower than the temperature of a living body and is hydrophobic at temperatures higher than the prescribed temperature (T). SOLUTION: This nucleic acid complex uses a gene transfer agent comprising a branched chain-having polymer material having a temperature-responding polymer block which is hydrophilic at temperatures lower than a prescribed temperature (T) lower than the temperature of a living body and is hydrophobic at temperatures higher than the prescribed temperature (T). The polymer material is obtained by living-polymerizing a vinylic monomer in the presence of an iniferter comprising a compound having three or more N,N-dialkyl-dithiocarbamoylmethyl molecular groups in the same molecule under irradiation of light to produce a homopolymer comprising the branched polymer and then block-polymerizing N-isopropylacrylamide to the obtained homopolymer.
