Hydroxyl polyester compounds or compositions which arc useful as oilfield deinulsifiers are prepared through eslerifying carboxylic compounds and epo xide compounds under controlled molar ratios. The hydroxyl polyesters are us eful as biodegradable demulsifiers on oil productions.
