<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle periphery monitoring device capable of supporting correct driving. <P>SOLUTION: In the monitoring device 20, when a monitor ECU 21 acquires the distance data Dta from a sonar unit 23a detecting an obstacle, a front right image including the obstacle in a peripheral situation of a front right corner part is displayed on a display 27 based on the image data Cta by an image pickup camera 25a in place of an image which has been displayed on the displayed 27. When the obstacle is present around the front right corner part 100a of a vehicle, a periphery of a corner part in which the obstacle is present is displayed on the display 27 in preference to other screens, and a driver of the vehicle can pay attention to the corner part in which the obstacle is present without being confused by other corner parts in which the obstacle is not present.
