PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the image quality of moving picture data from being deteriorated during still picture data transmission while enabling the still picture data to be also simultaneously transmitted in arbitrary timing according to an instruction from the outside as needed. SOLUTION: A camera system comprises: an image pickup device 12 which performs photoelectric conversion on a subject image formed by a lens unit 11; a still image processing circuit 16 for generating still picture information from an electric signal obtained by the image pickup device; a DRAM 22 for storing the generated still picture information; a moving image processing circuit 15 for generating moving picture information from the electric signal obtained in the image pickup device 12; a serial interface 21 for communicating information with an information processing apparatus 2 via a data bus; and a CPU 14 which transmits both the generated moving picture information and the still picture information stored in the DRAM 22 via the serial interface 21 cyclically by the unit of a packet.
