PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolysis cell which prevents the deterioration of a diaphragm in a part sandwiched between an electrode and the diaphragm, by reducing electric resistance which is generated in between the electrode and the diaphragm as much as possible to enhance the electric efficiency of the electrolysis cell. SOLUTION: The electrolysis cell comprises a middle chamber 2 to which an aqueous solution having an electrolyte dissolved therein is supplied, and an acid chamber 5 which is adjacent to the middle chamber 2 through the diaphragm 3 and an anode plate 4. The anode plate 4 is watertightly held by housings 6 and 7 which form inner walls of the middle chamber 2 and the acid chamber 5 in the outer circumferential edge. The diaphragm 3 is sandwiched between the anode plate 4 and the housing 6 which forms an inner wall of the middle chamber 2. The electrolysis cell also has an insulation film which obstructs the function of the anode plate 4 as the electrode or an electrically insulative insulator 8 which obstructs the contact of the anode plate with the diaphragm provided in an annular region having a predetermined width from the outer circumferential edge of the anode plate 4, and a water channel 9 formed between the holding part for the electrode and the part of sandwiching the diaphragm so that water can be supplied to the water channel.
