PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively provide the type I crystal and type II crystal of (2S)-1-[4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)piperidin-1-yl]-3-[2-(5-methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)benzo[b]furan-4-yloxy]propan-2-ol monohydrochloride. SOLUTION: An intensive study on the crystals of the above compound has resulted in finding a method for selectively producing the type I crystal and the type II crystal of the compound. The type I crystal gives peaks at 7.3°, 14.5°, 20.8°, 22.0°and 23.9°, and the type II crystal gives peaks at 6.8°, 13.5°, 20.1°, 22.6°and 27.2°, in their powder X-ray diffraction patterns, respectively, in terms of diffraction angle 2θ.
