The invention relates to a battery including a pack of modules each comprising rechargeable cells in series, the battery including means for measuring the voltage of at least one cell and/or the temperature o at least one module. According to the invention, the battery includes: means for calculating a pack discharge and/or regeneration current maximal limit (Iaut-reg) based on the voltage and/or temperature measured by the measuring means and on a recorded characteristic of the battery discharge and/ or regeneration current; and means for transmitting to the outside the information on the pack discharge and/or regeneration current maximal limit (Iaut-reg).
