<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost and thickness of a liquid crystal display device, and to prevent a substrate for input such as an FPC from being peeled. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises at least a liquid crystal display panel 10, a light source 20 provided on the back side of the liquid crystal display panel 10, and a frame 4 for containing the liquid crystal display panel 10 and the light source 20 and having upper and lower openings at upper and lower parts respectively. The liquid crystal display panel 10 comprises a TFT substrate 6 arranged on the light source 20 side, a CF substrate 7, a liquid crystal layer interposed between both substrates 6, 7, a thin film drive circuit 16 formed on the TFT substrate 6 for driving the liquid crystal layer, and a surface polarizing plate 8 which is provided on the front of the CF substrate 7 and has a portion 81 overhanging from the circumferential edge of the CF substrate 7. The surface polarizing plate 8 closes the upper opening of the frame 4 and the overhanging portion 81 is secured to the upper end face of the frame 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
