<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of untransferred region in a dimming layer when a power source is supplied at a low temperature. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises: an insulation substrate; an alignment film which covers one main surface of the insulation substrate; and an electrode 130 interposed between the insulation substrate and the alignment film. The alignment film regulates the alignment direction AD parallel to the main surface of the insulation substrate, the upstream side that is one end side of the alignment direction AD and the downstream side that is the other end side of the alignment direction AD, and tilts liquid crystal molecules to the downstream side. The electrode 130 is provided with an upstream part including an edge facing the upstream side and a downstream part which includes an edge E<SB>R</SB>facing the downstream side and has a recessed part R<SB>D</SB>recessed with respect to the edge E<SB>R</SB>. The recessed part R<SB>D</SB>forms an edge E<SB>R</SB>1 extended in the alignment direction AD and an edge E<SB>R</SB>2 which connects the edge E<SB>R</SB>1 to the edge E<SB>R</SB>and faces the upstream side, on the downstream part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
