Production of flat glass, especially thin film transistor glass, by the float process uses a dross box (10), into which an inert gas is fed so that it is at a higher pressure than that in the float bath chamber (1). Independent claims are included for: (A) dross boxes for use in the process which are fitted with one or more injectors (21) for gas; and (B) float bath units fitted with the dross box.
