摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visual line detecting apparatus for estimating the direction of a visual line from a monocular camera in an arbitrary posture of a head part without calibration and learning of direction-based patterns of a pupil in advance. <P>SOLUTION: The visual line detecting apparatus includes one image input part 12, a feature point detecting part 12 for extracting at least four feature points which include the pupil and are not on the same plane from the input image, a three-dimensional face model retaining part 16 for storing at least one three-dimensional face model and reference feature point coordinates which are on a three-dimensional face model and correspond to the feature point extracted by the feature point detecting part, a converting part 18 for converting coordinates of the pupil to the surface of the three-dimensional face model from a correspondence relationship between the extracted feature point and the reference feature point, and a visual line estimating part 20 for estimating a direction of the visual line from the converted coordinates of the pupil. This invention prevents the nonrigid deformation of a subject to be recognized and performs recognition processing with a high degree of accuracy. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
