PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To present more useful information to a user by acquiring articles corresponding to the role of the user within a community without the user performing special operation.

SOLUTION: A KL information DB 9 stores a KL record indicating relations between articles stored in an article DB 8 and the kinds of relations. A user role deriving section 11 derives the role of each user in the community based on the KL record. A user role information DB 12 stores information indicating the role of the user derived by the user role deriving section 11, in association with the user. An information retrieval section 14 acquires an article coinciding with a request of article retrieval or article reference from the user, in response to the request. The information retrieval section 14 determines precedence in presenting the acquired articles to the user of a request source based on a degree coinciding with the request and the role indicated by the information stored in the user role information DB 12 in association with the user of the request source.
