PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device capable of improving a light room contrast not by using an extra light absorbing member, but by using subtractive color mixing principles and complementary color principles, and providing videos of improved quality, while achieving cost reduction by improving a filter structure. SOLUTION: The plasma display device includes: a plasma display panel 100 adapted to create videos and including a front substrate 110, a rear substrate 120, a plurality of discharge cells S defined between the front substrate 110 and the rear substrate 200, and phosphors 125 coated in the discharge cells; and a filter 130 directly attached to the front surface of the front substrate 110 and adapted to serve as an image display surface, wherein the filter 130 and the phosphors 125 are colored with first and second colors that are different from each other, respectively.
