<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus designed so that image faults such as caking of toner or color shift is prevented by preventing a temperature rise of an image forming section and safety in jam removal and maintenance are excellent. <P>SOLUTION: A movable plate 25 is rotatably attached to the heat receiving plate 21 of an heat insulation device. The movable plate 25 is movable to a first position where it is in contact with the casing 2a of an intermediate transfer unit and a second position where it is in contact with a fixing device 7. When the movable plate 25 is brought into contact with the fixing device 7, heat from the fixing device 7 is efficiently transmitted to the heat receiving plate 21 via the movable plate 25, and then dissipated by a dissipating part (not shown) via the heat pipe 22. By bringing the movable plate 25 to the second position when a jam arises, the fixing device 7 is quickly cooled and any danger is prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
