PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operation margin, resolution, luminance, etc., of an interlaced PDP by improving its drive method. SOLUTION: The PDP drive method is characterized in that when an image frame comprising a plurality of sub-fields is displayed on a display screen where a plurality of discharge cells are arrayed in pluralities of rows and columns, two cells adjacent in a column direction which are included in two rows of each of a plurality of target odd or even rows and a row adjacent to one thereof are addressed as a display unit in an address period of at least one of the plurality of sub-fields and then in a display period of the one sub-field, the display period is divided into two display periods and only one of the two adjacent cells is used as the display unit in one divided display period and both of the two adjacent cells are used as the display unit in the other divided display period.
