PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jointing method for jointing metallic members by carrying out the friction stir welding on the butted portion between the metallic members, which jointing method can improve airtightness and watertightness in the jointing portion. SOLUTION: The jointing method comprises the jointing step for carrying out the friction stir welding on the butted portion J1 between the metallic members 1. The flat linear shape of the jointing portion J1 to be jointed is composed of the combination of three straight lines L1, L2, L3 and two bent portions C1, C2.
