The scanning unit (1) has a housing (9) provided with a scanning side (16) and a connecting side (17). Electrical conductors (3, 4) are provided in combination with an electrical resistance unit (5), where two dimensions i.e. length and breadth, of the resistance unit and the electrical conductors are not constant in dependence of a wear path. The resistance unit extends in the direction of the wear path with the length and perpendicular to the wear path with the breadth. The resistance unit is fitted on a holder (2).
