Electrode active material of the invention is such that a Li3PO4 phase is mixed in with an amorphous iron-phosphate complex having a LixFePyOz compos ition. Applying the electrode active material of the invention to a secondar y battery inhibits an irreversible reaction which reduces the irreversible c apacity, thus enabling a high capacity to be maintained even when it is used at a high potential.
