[PROBLEMS] To provide a thermal printer, which stores replacement history information of a plurality of thermal heads and automatically updates the replacement history information of the thermal heads. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] Provided is a thermal printer having a head disconnection detecting means for detecting disconnection of a thermal head. The thermal printer is provided with a disconnection result memory (M) for storing detection results obtained from the head disconnection detecting means; a replacement history storing table (T) for storing replacement history information of a plurality of thermal heads; a judging means for judging thermal head disconnection results stored in the disconnection result memory (M); and a replacement history updating means, which detects disconnection of the thermal head when the judging means judges that the thermal head is disconnected, and judges that the thermal head is replaced when disconnection is not detected, and updates the replacement history of the thermal heads stored in the replacement history storage table (T).
