<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify work of mounting a terminal on an electric connector. <P>SOLUTION: An electric connector 1 includes a contact 7 which is held in a housing 6 and has a pair of opposed elastic pieces 24 and 25, and an operating member 8 for operating the contact 7. When the operating member 8 is in a first position, a gap between cramping portions 32 and 33 of the elastic pieces 24 and 25 is narrowed. Operating a depressed portion 37a of the operating member 8 along an insertion direction A1 causes the operating member 8 to shift to a second position E2, in which a gap between the pair of cramping portions 32 and 33 is widened.
