<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a no-load insertion connector that achieves a lower profile than that of the conventional connector in spite of its simple structure without increasing the number of components. <P>SOLUTION: The no-load insertion connector is provided with: a base housing, which has paired right and left side walls and a bottom wall connecting the right and left side walls at the rear; a cover housing which has an upper wall, a front wall, a bottom wall, and right and left side walls and is arranged between the right and left side walls of the base housing so as to be freely rotatably supported with respect to the base housing; and a plurality of flat contacts that each have an end part, a contact part, a fixed part, and a terminal part, and are formed so as to each have a nearly angular cross-section toward the upper wall of the cover housing with the contact part as the apex at least from the end part to the fixed part. Each contact is fixed to the bottom wall of the base housing via its fixed part.
