<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store document data in a proper real document box according to an attribute such as the type or name of the document data. <P>SOLUTION: This document management device 1 is connected to multifunction machines 3, 3a via a network 7. The personal computer 1 has a communication part 13, a document management part 17, a storage part 19, and a control part 21. The communication part 13 communicates information related to the document data between the composite machines 3, 3a. The storage part 19 stores management data of the document management part 17. The control part 21 controls storage operation of the document management part 17 based on a storage request of the document data. The document management part 17 manages information of the real document boxes 47, 47a of the multifunction machines 3, 3a or the attribute of the document data to be stored.
