PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a high frame rate distortion-corrected image signal. SOLUTION: When a distortion-corrected output image GZ is generated from a distorted wide field image, a selected area GZse is set in the output image GZ. In the generation of the output image over a nonselected area GZns other than the selected area GZse, pixel positions on the wide field image corresponding to pixels of the output image are calculated at every other pixel, and a pixel signal G(j,k) in the calculated pixel positions is mapped as a signal for a corresponding pixel PX(1,1) of the output image to generate a distortion-corrected image over the nonselected area GZns from the distorted wide field image.
