DISK DRIVE UNIT AND ITS ERROR RECOVERY PROCESSING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover from an error while suppressing degradation of performance. SOLUTION: An HDC(Hard Disk Controller)/MPU 23 measures RPO(Repeatable Run-Out) in ERP(Error Recovery Procedure) to calculate a RPO correction value from its measured value, thereby recovering from read or write error caused by the RPO. The HDC/MPU 23 uses an error between the position data of each servo sector 115 read by a reading element 32 and a target to calculate an RPO correction value corresponding to the RPO in the target position and each servo sector 115. The HDC/MPU 23 tries read or write from/to the target sector where an error occurs while being followed by servo control using the RPO correction value. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
