PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk controller designed so that information is not read from a failed disk device despite user's intention. SOLUTION: A RAID device 9 inspects each of disk devices 19-1 to 19-8 and detects a disk device to be separated, a data read-protect determination section 15 controls an overwrite control section 16 of a data region to overwrite the data of the data region of the target disk device with "0". Otherwise, an overwrite section 17 of an SA (System Area) region outputs, to the disk device, a command for overwriting the SA of the target disk device with "0".
