PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of a linear compressor dispensing with a position detector for a piston, having a light burden on a processor for calculation processing, hardly affected by electric noises and enabling highly accurate control. SOLUTION: The control method 1 of the linear compressor equipped with a cylinder, a piston, a linear motor, an electric power source and a control unit comprises: a fundamental waveform generation step (2) of creating a fundamental waveform u of a specific frequency; a voltage measurement and calculation step (3) of measuring instantaneous values of voltage in three or more different voltage measuring phases and obtaining the amplitude and phase of a voltage waveform v; an electric current measurement and calculation step (4) of measuring instantaneous values of electric current in three or more different electric current measuring phases and obtaining the amplitude and phase of an electric current waveform i; a displacement calculation step (5) of obtaining a displacement waveform x or amplitude of the piston based on the voltage waveform v and the electric current waveform i; a fundamental waveform correction step (6) of correcting the fundamental waveform u; and an electric power supply step (electric power source 7) of determining and supplying the voltage or the electric current of alternating-current power.
