[Also in Division H2] To achieve a substantially uniform voltage distrubution in a series rectifier stack and to shield the stack from external fields the semiconductor elements are stacked within a ceramic tube of a material having a high dielectric constant and which together with the end connectors of the stack forms a capacitor. The assembly may be mounted in vacuo or in an oil bath. A ceramic tube of material of low dielectric constant may be provided as insulation between the elements and the capacitor dielectric. To vary the distribution of earth capacitances the dielectric tube may be tapered by giving it a conical outer surface. Alternatively the tube may be formed by two interlocking cylindrical sections having different external diameters.</p> |
