In a depolarizer mixture containing pyrolusite and carbon black, together with polyisobutylene and/or rubber, in which the pyrolusite is bonded with the polyisobutylene and/or rubber, the predominant proportion of the carbon black is present in a free state, i.e. not bonded by the polyisobutylene and/or rubber. This improves the electrolyte absorption after the mixture has been pressed into a plate or other shape. The shaped member of depolarizer mixture is contained in a Leclanche cell and absorbs the sal ammoniac electrolyte without losing its firm cohesion. |
