A plug converter apparatus is provided with added functionality affecting the operation of the apparatus. The apparatus comprises a housing arranged to receive an electrical plug with a first pin configuration, the apparatus having electrical pins with a second pin configuration different from the first configuration and connecting means for electrically connecting the pins of the electrical plug with the electrical pins of the apparatus. The apparatus further comprises a module 3 for controlling the electrical connection between the pins. This may be a switching means 4 for enabling or disabling the connection between the pins of the electrical plug and the pins of the plug converter apparatus, controlled by a controller 5. This may be operated by a timer 6 or a current leakage detector 7, or it may be light sensitive. Alternatively, the module could provide a step-up or step-down transformer. The module may be detachable. |
