摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make as small as possible the burden of a vehicle operator who parks a vehicle into a parking area by grasping the absolute position and attitude angle of the vehicle without being affected by the surroundings. SOLUTION: This parking assisting device includes: a storage device 10 for holding data about the specifications and items of a vehicle 100; a desired stopping position indicating device 20 for grasping data about the stopping position and attitude of the vehicle 100 and ambient conditions; an absolute position/attitude angle computing device 30 for identifying data about the absolute position and absolute attitude angle of the vehicle 100; an ideal path computing device 40 for computing data about an ideal path leading to the parking area of the vehicle 100 and an ideal steering angle based on the data held, grasped and identified by the devices 10-30, respectively; and a steering/drive control device 50 for controlling a steering system and a driving system mounted in the vehicle, based on the data identified and computed by the computing devices 30, 40, so that the vehicle 100 travels automatically while meeting the requirements of the idal path and the ideal steering angle.
