An electric power generation and distribution system 100 comprises at least one first power converter 116 electrically coupled to a first electric bus 132, at least one second power converter 146 electrically coupled to a second electric bus 162, and at least one open-winding generator 102 electrically coupled in series with the first electric bus and the second electric bus. The power converters may be active rectifiers and may be coupled to the first and second busses via regulated DC links. Further converters 138, 168 may be provided to provide an appropriate power supply to a distribution system 144 and a propulsion system 176, 178, 180. The arrangement may be used for a marine vessel propulsion and power distribution system. |
