A method for preparing cerium carbonate is provided to control particle size and shape for the use of cerium carbonate, to have a mild reaction condition, and to save a cost of a starting material. A method for preparing cerium carbonate includes the steps of: (i) dissolving a cerium salt in water to prepare a cerium salt solution; (ii) adding carbon dioxide to the prepared cerium salt solution; and (iii) adding a water-soluble amine-based compound to the cerium salt solution containing carbon dioxide to synthesize the cerium carbonate. The cerium salt is at least one selected from the group comprising cerium nitrate, cerium chloride, cerium acetate, and cerium sulfonate. Further, a concentration of the cerium salt solution is 0.1 to 1 mol/L, and a molar ratio of the cerium salt and the amine-based compound is 1:0.1 to 1:5. |
